Robin Roberts, the Hall of Fame pitcher nicknamed “Whiz Kid,” died May 6 at his Florida house. He was 83.

Roberts led the Philadelphia Phillies towards the National League pennant in 1950 by pitching a 10-inning victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was the Phillies very first pennant in 35 many years, according for the Extended Island Press.
